"..Full time police officer....Life time artist..."

In an attempt to find some escape from the harrowing stresses of police work, Scott Carola found refuge behind his pencils and drawing board, and never looked back. Since 2009, Scott has worked primarily in dry media, favoring colored, graphite and pastel pencils – even branching out to using paint and ink.

Scott is a life-long resident of New Bedford, Massachusetts. He began his career in law enforcement in 1997 as a corrections officer at the oldest operating facility in the country, the infamous "Ash St. Jail." In 2000, Scott was sworn in as a police officer for the New Bedford Police Department.  Having worked as a Patrolman, narcotics detective for the "Organized Crime Intelligence Bureau," Sergeant in the city's "Gang Unit," and now currently Detective Lieutenant for the "Major Crimes Division," Scott draws inspiration from his many experiences on the streets, both good and bad...

Best known for his life-like portraitures of pop culture icons, Scott’s art has taken him all over the east coast where he has shown his work at local galleries, art shows, charity events, and artist alleys at major comic-book conventions. Scott has also trained in composite sketching and studied under the master composite sketch artist and author Stephen Mancusi (NYPD – Ret.).

Scott’s art has been featured on Hobbit trading cards for Cryptozoic Entertainment, as well as on apparel for Creep-O-Rama. One of his cultural pieces, a local favorite, can also be viewed at the Whaling City Museum in historic downtown New Bedford.
